- Press Release: July 22, 2009 – The Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicagoland (CQPS), announced today that Monica C. Berry, BSN, JD has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer. Berry joins a CQPS team focused on advancing safe, high quality care that includes a federally-certified Patient Safety Organization (PSO), one of the first in the nation.
- Press Release: May 14, 2009 – The Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicagoland (CQPS), announced today it has reached an agreement with ECRI Institute Patient Safety Organization (PSO) to implement a Chicago-based PSO dedicated to improving safety and quality of care in the Chicago metro region.

Key Patient Safety Issues |
- On November 21, 2008 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a final rule for Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs).
The rule becomes effective on Jan. 19, 2009. It provides final requirements and procedures for PSOs, new entities with which clinicians and health care providers can work to collect, aggregate and analyze data—within a legally secure environment of privilege and confidentiality protections—to identify and reduce patient care risks and hazards.
